Random

Sometimes I just want to remember some of the funny/strange things the girls do and say.

Avery: Mommy, do you like my new hat? I designed it myself.
Me: Yep (that's her underwear on her head)

On our way to swim lessons, we pass a Dairy Queen Brazier and there is a huge logo on the side of the building. Morgan yells at us "Mommy, why are there lips on the side of that building?" Took me a minute, but yes, it does look like lips. Now she mentions it every time we drive by!

We drive by this house all the time on the way home from school. For some reason, it's Morgan's favorite house. No clue why or when this started. But she'll say "Mommy, that's the house I'm talking about!" and point to this brown house. :)

The scenario is that I'm driving with the girls in the car somewhere. We are stopped at a light waiting to go.
Morgan: Mommy, you going to call that guy "dude"?
Me: Which guy?
Morgan: Him, in the car in front of us. You going to call him "dude"?
Me: Why would you say that?
Morgan: Cause you always say that. Go dude! (she mimics me)
Avery: What are you doing dude?!? (she chimes in mimicking me as well)
Morgan: Let's go dude!
Avery: Come on dude! What is wrong with you, dude?!?
(I guess I say "dude" a lot and yell at other cars when I'm driving - ha!)

The scenario is that we're sitting at the dinner table one night following a weekend where Mama and Papa had been babysitting.
Morgan: Does everyone have a brain in their head?
Me: Yes, you have to have a brain to live.
Morgan: But, Papa doesn't have a brain in HIS head.
Me: What? Who told you that?
Both girls start giggling. I'm guessing Mama said that once! (And I asked them later and they had no idea where this came from, but assumed that my mom must have said it in passing and they picked up on it!)

Pajama Day

The girls' school had a pajama day on Friday. The girls thought it was so much fun to wear their jammies to school. I took a few pictures of them before school... they are such hams and goofballs!

Cold weather fun!

With this cold weather, we've been trying to find things that the girls can do inside.

We went to the Kids Workshop at Home Depot and the girls made gingerbread man candy dishes. And we have them full of candy canes at home now. They turned out really cute!

We have also been visiting the library on Saturdays. They have a story time, but I think it's a little more for the younger kids. The girls would rather just play with all the toys at the library instead.

They love this kitchen

They asked me "Mommy, what does this spell?

Morgan is such a goofball

We got a surprise big snowfall. I was thinking it was only going to be a couple of inches, but boy was I wrong! We were in the process of getting our new paver patio and walkway installed and this definitely set the process back a few days.

Helping Daddy shovel snow

The best part of playing in the snow - hot chocolate with marshmallows!

Not exactly planning on this much snow

Curly!

I bought some curlers for the girls to sleep in, not really thinking they would actually do it. But, Avery absolutely loves curly hair and asks to have curlers in her hair every night now! Morgan could take it or leave it. As long as the curlers are out of her way, she will keep them in. And her hair is so long and thick that it requires a lot of curlers and she isn't all that happy with it. She tells me it hurts her neck. :)

Then, one night for fun, I put only the smallest curlers in Avery's hair. Not just in the pony tails like we had been, but just all over her head. I actually couldn't believe she slept in them like that. She had some crazy fluffy hair the next day! Considering her hair is SO stick straight and baby fine, this was quite a change! But, she loves it. Thinks she looks like a princess.

Jumping in the leaves

Matt raked up all the leaves and we let all the kiddos run through and jump in them. Such fun to watch them!

O, Christmas Tree

As is our tradition, we always get our Christmas tree the weekend of Thanksgiving. We went to Wannamakers and found the perfect tree for us. The girls have such a blast at that store. I mean, who wouldn't - there are like a million lights and ornaments! I could spend hours there, if I weren't with two little curious kiddos that want to touch every ornament.

We didn't actually decorate the tree until Monday night because of all the craziness of the weekend. The girls may have put about 20 ornaments on a section of three branches of the tree. There definitely was some redistributing of ornaments after they were done. :)

Tons of ornaments in this spot

NO ornaments in this spot

The finished tree - love!
