I love Fridays

This week has gone by pretty fast, which is always nice.

We had a big win in volleyball on Wednesday night. The other team started off acting like they were expecting an easy win against us (which is strange considering their record isn't that much better than ours, but whatever). But, we took two of the three games and they were none too happy.

Last night, Matt and I went to dinner at The Palm. I still owed him dinner for two bowling bets, so we decided we'd combine them into one really nice dinner out. Matt had a filet, which was amazing and cooked exactly like he requested. I had the sea bass which was equally as tasty and huge!

Today, I had to go pick up my replacement CTA card at lunchtime. I lost the old one and have no idea where it could be. I know it is with my LSAC gym pass, but that doesn't help... because that is lost, too. I'm sure now that I've replaced the CTA pass, I will miraculously find it tomorrow. By the way, I get the impression that the customer service people at the CTA office automatically think you are going to be rude to them, because they start off talking to you with a major attitude. I'm like "whoa, I just said 'hi'"!

I stopped off on my way back to the office at the French Market in the train station. The place was jam packed! With good reason! I walked by the Belgian fry stand and it was packed as well. Can't wait to try that place! : )

Oh, I also picked up some lottery tickets... keeping my fingers crossed! Ahhh, it's nice to dream about the cool stuff we could do with millions of dollars!

Tonight, we're off to see Hot Tub Time Machine with Erin, Ross and Brett!

Happy weekend everyone! : )

I've just about recovered from my weekend

While Matt was at WhiskyFest Friday night, I went out with a group from work for happy hour. We had a party at the office earlier that continued down the street to the Cactus bar. We were celebrating the merger (TP + WW = TW) and meeting our new colleagues again. I think a fun time was had by all. How could it not with the amount of alcohol consumed?!?!

Before... shots of Patron and SoCo w/lime

After... all gone!

At least we had a few beers to drink!

I reverted back to my college days and joined the young-in's in some drinking games. Definitely not the best decision I've ever made.

I got home before 11pm and Matt sauntered in around 12:30am with Andy. They played Tiger Woods Golf on the Wii for a few (too many) hours.

Saturday morning was a rough one, especially for a certain husband of mine. : ) I had to get up and play flag football at 11am. After that, I veg'd out on the couch while Matt recovered in bed. I think he made it out around 3pm-ish.

We had dinner at the Village Tap with the Reuters. After eating, I hit the wall and was really sleepy. I'm sure I was excellent company right about then!

Sunday, we spent the rainy day inside, worked a little, cleaned up around the condo, recovered some more, basically a whole lotta nothing. I had a major headache because some Greek parade was going on outside our building and they had loud speakers set up on the corners at the stoplights. And they were blaring! It was so annoying!

I definitely felt my age this weekend... a sure sign of getting old = when it takes you two days to recover from a night out drinking! Geesh!

We're going to Greece!

The flights have been booked! Yay!

We'll be leaving the Tuesday (July 27th) after Erin and Ross get hitched. And we'll be in Greece until Sunday, August 8th.

Now, I just have to figure out what we're doing from the time we land in Athens to when we fly back home. I talked to a couple of travel agents and haven't had a ton of luck, so I'm going to see what I can find on my own.

I can't wait! : )

The last few days...

Is it bad that I sometimes have to look back in my date book to actually remember what I've been up to since the last time I posted anything? Yep, I'm getting old! And honestly, it's really bad when the last time was like less than a week ago!

Friday morning was my day to bring in breakfast at work. I stopped off at the French Market in the train station. Love that place! I got a bunch of croissants and pastries from a few different vendors. There is a vendor there(Frietkoten Belgian Fries and Beers) from Amsterdam that sells traditional Dutch fries and Belgian beers that I really want to try out - happy hour anyone???

On Friday night, I went to a bridal shower for Mary. Lots of great food, drinks and gifts! Matt hung out with Andy and Samantha. She still is a little leery of him... which is understandable. : )

Saturday morning, I met Erin at the gym for Spin class. The instructor picks the most fun songs. She was on an 80's kick and I was loving it!

Then, I drove up to my friend Theresa's house for a Lill purse party. It was a lot of fun! Her dining room table was full of fabrics and different styles of purses. I had such a hard time deciding which purse to get. Then, I had to decide on the fabrics. The new purse will be shipped to me on May 8th. I can't wait to see how it turns out! I'm lucky I made it out of there without breaking the bank. I'm on a one-in one-out policy on purses and shoes these days. I'm maxed out on closet space as it is!

You know it's Spring when... you fire up the grill - yay! Andy, Michelle, Erin and Ross came over and we grilled out turkey burgers and sweet potatoes and drank margaritas. We went through a whole bottle of tequila and I'm thinking the majority of that was in the last batch!

Sunday = laundry day. I know... fun, right??? I did 5 loads of laundry and decided that was enough.

On Sunday night, we had our weekly bowling league. My trash talking did not help me. Matt had a really good night and won the weekly bet. Yep, I'm on a losing streak, folks. At least my team is doing well.

Filet = good!

Last night, my sister and I (along with Matt and Ross) took Brett out to dinner for his birthday. We went to Wildfire. Love that place!

I had the petite filet, Matt had the porterhouse, Brett had a trio of filet medallions with different sauces/seasonings (one had this potato pancake thing on top = Yum!), Ross had the halibut. Of course, Erin had something "without a face"... salad and baked potato.

We all saved room for the dessert. Well, not really, but they looked SO good, we shared a couple anyway!

And we even got a dessert on the house for Brett's birthday!

Afterwards, we were all in a food coma! : )

Happy Birthday Brett!

Not only is this tax day (boo!), but it is also my little brother's birthday! : )

Time sure does fly by...

Enjoy your day off, Brett! See you tonight!

Scrapbooking

A few weeks ago, I ordered about a gazillion pictures from our wedding weekend in the Bahamas. My goal was to create a scrapbook of the weekend, so there would be something to look back at, instead of how I normally just keep everything on the computer and forget about it.

I spent some time on Saturday and a lot of the day on Sunday working on the wedding scrapbook. This was a much bigger project than I realized! I'm not all that artistic or creative, so it's mostly just a photo album with a few extras... but, even that is time consuming.

Last night, for some reason, I could not sleep. So, I decided to work on it some more. I kept thinking, "oh, I only have a few pages left to do"... so, I kept going... and then, a few glue sticks later, it was done! I looked at the clock and it was 2am! Oops! :O

Oh, when I got the last page in and tried to close the scrapbook, it wouldn't shut. Too many pages! Yeah, not good. Luckily, I had another scrapbook that expands a bit farther that I could switch up the pages with. So, now all is good. : )

When I finally went to bed, Matt looked at me and looked at the clock and gave me this confused look like I was crazy. Today, I'm tired. I don't think I'll have a problem falling asleep tonight.
