Family Vacay - Day 4 - Lake Arvesta

After checking out the weather, we decided this would be the best day to go to Lake Arvesta in South Haven. It was supposed to get super hot and possibly rainy the rest of the week. Lake Arvesta is a lake with floating obstacle courses, cable wakeboarding, giant water slides, kayaking, paddle boarding, mini golf, pickle ball, etc. It took about an hour to get there from where we were staying. We rented a cabana once we got there just to have some shade and a place to put our stuff.

Everyone is required to wear a life jacket if you set foot in the water. The life jackets they had there were not the greatest, but the kids managed. The kids did all the water stuff. We never made it to the mini golf. We had lunch at the restaurant on site and grabbed ice cream before heading home.

I tried to get a panoramic of the place from our cabana, but it didn't really turn out that great! The water slides are on the right, the obstacle course in the middle and to the left, the cable wakeboarding is to the far left. Kayaks and paddle boards are behind the cabana.

Wibit (floating obstacle course)
We hadn't been to one of these before and the girls loved it. Lots of climbing and jumping and craziness!

Cable wakeboarding
I had never seen anything like this before. They have a cable line going around the lake and you can wake board and hang on! I knew Morgan would want to do this in a heartbeat. Just like I knew Avery would not even contemplate it! Calvin was too young to do it, so he was pretty disappointed. But, the other kids all gave it a try. Nolan did it once and fell off at the start and that was it for him. Morgan ended up doing this a bunch of times because she wanted to get all the way around without falling off the board... which she accomplished! Every turn the cable gives you a big yank and you have to be ready for it or you'll get pulled off the board. It took the kids a few tries to figure out how to prepare for the turns.

Giant water slides
These things were huge! It was quite a hike up to the top, but all the kids did this... even Avery!

Kayaking and paddle boarding
Even though we had just gone kayaking the day before, the kids spent a lot of time on the boards and kayaks here. I think they were really excited they could do these on their own.

A little cousin meeting out in the lake -

They stayed out there chatting for a bit!

Last, but not least, the ice cream!

The exhausted kiddos got a good nap on the hour ride home!

On Tuesday night, Ross made cedar plank salmon and it was delicious!
