People on the bus...

...are RUDE! Really, folks, is it that hard to be courteous??? I know it's morning and people are not happy to be going to work... but, hey, we're all in the same boat here! I have probably already ranted about my love (heavy on the sarcasm) of bus-riders, but I'll do it again.

A couple of things:
1) If you can move towards the back of the bus, please do so. Otherwise, everyone has to smash into the front of the bus. Nothing irks me more than to get on a bus that is packed from the front to about halfway back and then tons of space. Why aren't you fools moving - do you think I like being sardined in with some randoms who don't always have the best hygiene skills???
2) You do not need to stand up and try to make your way to the door two city blocks before your stop. Especially when the bus is uber-packed. There will be time for you to get off the bus at the stop along with the other ten+ people that are also going to get off and are not trying to smash through a crowded bus to get to the door. There is no prize for being the first person off the bus. Luckily, the bus is not driven by a robot. An actual human is up there... with ears. If you are trying to get off the bus and he shuts the door, you can yell "hey, let me out". I know, it's like rocket science. And if you are in that big of a hurry, you should have left earlier!
3) If you are under 60 years old and not pregnant and nothing is physically wrong with you, get out of the seats in the front of the bus marked "Priority Seating" when an old person or pregnant lady gets on the bus. Quit pretending you don't see the old lady with a cane while you are texting on your phone... and move your butt.
4) A bus is not 'da club'. If you want to listen to music, wear headphones. Not everyone likes the same music as you. And if you do have headphones on and I can still hear your music, that is WAY too loud. You are going to go deaf!
5) A bus is also not a church. If you want to spout off your religious beliefs, find a church or a street corner.
6) There is no reason to speak at the top of your lungs to the person next to you who is about a foot away. If you can't hear well and you need to speak that loud, you are probably in need of a hearing aid. If you think what you are saying is that exciting and that everyone wants to know your business... it's not and we don't.
7) Don't even get me started about people on their cell phones... basically, see #6. With an addition - just because we can only hear half of the conversation does not make it "private". Wait for ten minutes until you are off the bus to get in a fight with your boyfriend, please. (On a side note: I actually once heard a girl loudly reading on the phone to her friend the letter she was giving to her boyfriend to break up with him. Quite funny. I'm pretty sure she had no clue everyone was listening.)
8) And a note to the bus driver: You may think it's funny to drive really fast and slam on your brakes at every stop, but to everyone standing on the bus, smashed against a complete stranger, it's really not. Maybe you give yourself 10 points for every stink eye you get or 20 points when a person falls on the floor. Whatever keeps you awake, right?

I'm looking forward to warmer weather and being able to walk to/from work more. I think I ride the bus too much. : )

Nice! It is pretty appalling how few people will stand up for a pregnant chick. Sadly, it is usually the women that have been in your shoes (or maternity pants) that will give you their seat... Not the dudes.
